Passion for colour and the luxurious softness of pure silk
All my life I have been creative, and have knitted jerseys for my family, crocheted rugs for my children and grandchildren, made a patchwork quilt for my bed, and sewn clothes for myself and my daughters. I have also had a busy career, and over the last several years I started to dream about working with silk and with colour. This did not come about immediately, but after a lot of research and experimentation. I found that as I mixed colours and dyed the beautiful silk, I was thrilled by the creativity!
I have been surprised and excited by the results of my work, and absolutely delighted with the combination of beautiful colour and sumptuous silk. It is luxurious and caressing, and at the same time tough and protecting.
I have slept wrapped in one of my Silken Dreamer sleeping bags and felt like a princess.
I have swum with a sarong around my waist in the beautiful Indian Ocean and felt like a mermaid.
I have draped my shoulders with one of my pure silk scarves whilst flying to Australia, and it kept me warm and I felt comforted.
I dye all items in beautiful Devon, where there is so much inspiration in Nature! I love to work in the garden with my Springer spaniel, Pebbles, for company. I receive invaluable advice and encouragement from my wonderful family.
My dream is to be able to continue developing Sunbird Silks, introducing new products for people to enjoy so that they feel special too.
